Elenin is a very dangerous cosmic object. Sometimes we need to watch what an object does as well as watching the object while looking for clues. Elenin is not visible to the naked eye, but does appear to have an EM effect on our solar system at distances of 14+ AUs. Elenin is also dangerous because it is a long period (10000+ years) comet whose tail the Earth passes through. Comets are not balls of ice and dust like Nasa states. Nasa will not release this information because there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it except panic. Sit back and enjoy the ride and be thankful to be alive in this time to bear witness to this event.

A capacitor is a device for storing electric charge. Comets are electric cosmic capacitors that gather and store energy as they pass through space. Comets are electromagnetically connected to the sun and planets by EM ropes (JPL, 2005). Extreme EM fields can cause earthquakes. Elenin’s line up position with the Earth and sun correlates Earth seismicity. This is what HAARP research is based upon. EM energy lubricates fault lines and can cause fault slippage. The reason Elenin is causing quakes when other comets do not is because Elenin has been in deep space a long time gathering electrons and storing energy for discharging to the sun at perigee.

The EM field that results from the storage of such a large amount of electricity is connected to the Earth and influences geological activities as well as weather and more. A comets positively charged metallic core is ideal for storing and attracting electrons. Comets pick up electrons as they fly through space because the electrons are attracted to the metallic comet nucleus. The larger the comet and longer the comet travels through space without discharging, the more electricity is stored in the comet. When the comet approaches the sun, it begins to glow because the electron cloud is energized by the sun’s proton wind. The hydrogen protons combine with the oxygen in the solar wind to produce water in the comet’s tail; which is comprised of visible photons (coma) generated by the comet’s electric circuit. The sun provides the positive charge and the stored electrons provide the negative charge to complete the electrical circuit with the sun.

The metal comet nucleus behaves similar to the filament on a lightbulb. When positive and negative wires are attached, the filament of a lightbulb produces a photon glow. The intensity of photon emission is proportional to the amount of current applied to the circuit. Comets do the same thing when the comet encounters the solar wind. Comets glow proportional to the amount of protons and electrons interacting within the circuit. On occasion a comet will release its stored energy in a burst of photons when the EM ropes provide a surge in protons. The luminosity can increase by million of times when the comet discharges its capacitance to the sun. Most don’t have enough charge or do not get close enough to the sun to explosively discharge their energy and just pass through the solar system gathering energy for the next opportunity to erupt.

The infrared signature for comet Elenin suggests the electrical charge Elenin is carrying is so large that when the comet dumps its capacitance, the resulting photon flare up will engulf the Earth as the Earth passes through the tail. The evidence is in Nasa’s google sky infrared image of Elenin. When Elenin was 14 AUs away on June 14, 2007, Nasa photographed the comet when they took the infrared image for google sky. The infrared image indicates Elenin’s infrared electrical signature is 17 million miles across with xray jets extending over 100 million miles from Elenin. Elenin will pass the Earth at 21 million miles. When Elenin flares and dumps its electron load (electricity) to the sun, the photon flash will be so great that it will instantly turn everything on the Earth’s surface into light. Don’t worry though. There is a lot more action before we evaporate.

Elenin’s enormous EM field produced from its electron pillaging throughout deep space should cause earthquakes with magnitudes of 10 or greater so that the Earth will ring with seismicity prior to photon bombardment. As you can see, Elenin is quite different than any other object ever encountered and publicly acknowledged by Nasa. There is no other object in space that humans have identified that has an electric signature like Elenin. This is why the governments of the world are building bunkers deep within the Earth. This is why the seed vault was built in Greenland. This is why the US government is spending like there is no tomorrow. This is why our weather is changing now. This is why we have civil unrest around the world. If you are still not convinced.

There is a lot more. Here is what ELEnin has been doing to Saturn on its approach. These electrical storms produce lightening bolts that are 10,000 times as strong as the strongest bolts of lightening on earth.

You can see the electrical storms in this photo. These are the contact points for the EM ropes that connect to the planet. We can’t see the EM ropes…. yet, but if you go to SOHO you can see the EM ropes coming off of venus on the left hand side of the their photo directly into the sun. I will try to get these out tomorrow.

Take a look at Saturn above. Hundreds of earths will fit inside this storm. It’s a monster. It happens every year on saturn which is about 30 earth years. However, its not supposed to be happening now. Its over 10 years early and very unexpected. This is like having a hurricane in January in the Gulf of Mexico. It doesn’t happen.

Elenin: The “cluster” and the hour of truth. Confusion at NASA

Many serious attempts at independent analysis of what has already been renamed the “cluster” Elenin. Since the end of June 2011 have not obtained new photos of the comet. The last picture obtained seems more an attempt to make an accurate analysis of data such as who performed Miller from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands Telescope in late May 2011.

Then reproduce the latest images available from the “cluster” Elenin proceed to make a reasoned reflection on the documentation available to date. Surprised that NASA does not publish a single photograph of the Comet, despite the insistence of the scientific community at this point.

Fortunately we have the network of amateur astronomers and their telescopes, some of them powerful enough to capture images as provided by Miller.

Additionally, NASA warns anomalies Stereo nodes that are taking place by the approach of ELENIN as well as viewing the coming days 1-15 August.

The text is quite disconcerting, especially because it looks like a cross between justification of previous anomalies and anomalies further notice.

The truth is that the satellite Stereo presents a series of anomalies that are not clearly visible unless Elenin justify the cause, and suggest that what is coming is something quite different from a simple “comet.”

Then offer the STEREO image of minutes before they proceed to cut the satellite signal that will probably last the next two days 22 and 23, confirmed our theory.

The anomaly has nothing to do with mirrors Stereo. Rather, it seems related to solar activity and transit and / or proximity of an object or group of objects.

Whatever has come to be seen and its size should be considerably larger and photographed on satellites. His brilliance even to disrupt the sphere of the Sun in the infrared spectrum.

What we see in LASCO is Venus and this time has a luminosity 10 times higher than normal. If we look closely at the chart positions Elenin, the brightness of Venus clearly because Elenin, the “Cluster” is right Mercury behind the position of intersection with the orbit of the Earth (From the perspective of LASCO) and both nodes A and B Satellite Stereo, so the brightness of Venus appears SOHO-LASCO amplified 10 times. Question: A simple comet produces the indirect effect of increased light? The answer: NO, unless it has an associated Orto of considerable size, ie other associated objects, comets, asteroids, etc … and the tail is directly affecting their transition to the satellite orbit Stereo, node A.

The coming days 1-20 August will be key to understand and see Elenin and exit from doubts as to its composition, nature and travel companions.

This has, undoubtedly, been one of the most eagerly-awaited comets in recent years. It was discovered back on December 10, 2010 by Leonid Elenin, an astronomer in Lyubertsy, Russia (affiliated with the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics in Moscow), who is an accomplished observer of comets and who has in fact made several recoveries of expected periodic comets within the fairly recent past; this is his first comet discovery. Leonid was observing remotely with a 45-cm (18-inch) telescope (equipped with a CCD) at the International Scientific Optical Network observatory in New Mexico (not too far from where I live, incidentally), and at the time of his discovery the comet was a rather faint object between 19th and 20th magnitudes and was located 4.2 AU from the sun.

The first calculated orbits for Comet Elenin suggested it would remain a distant object, however it soon became clear that it was traveling on a remarkably low-inclination orbit (1.8 degrees) that would carry it quite close to both the sun and the earth. Furthermore, the geometry for forward scattering of sunlight — and thus an accompanying brightness enhancement — is quite favorable around that time. All this has led to a realization that Comet Elenin possesses at least the potential to become a relatively bright object — conceivably even a “Great Comet” — for a brief period of time around perihelion passage and its closest approach to Earth.

Following its discovery Comet Elenin slowly brightened as it approached the sun and Earth, and it went through opposition in mid-March of this year. Towards the end of that month I broke out the Earthrise telescope/CCD system (that has been dormant for a few years amongst all the transitions both Earthrise and I are undergoing) and managed to obtain some images of the comet as a faint object near magnitude 15 1/2 or 16. I also began visual searches for it around that time, however it remained elusive for quite some time thereafter. Finally, on the evening of May 23 I suspected it as a very faint, diffuse and “soft” object a little fainter than 14th magnitude, and was able to verify this as being the comet by observations on several additional nights over the subsequent week. (This confirmation process was hindered some by the fact that the comet was at its stationary point, and thus hardly moved at all from night to night.)

The comet is currently an evening-sky object, located in western Leo some six degrees southeast of the bright star Regulus and two degrees southwest of the star Rho Leonis. Over the coming several weeks it tracks to the east-southeast across Leo roughly parallel to the ecliptic, until finally it enters western Virgo in early August. Its elongation from the sun at that time will have shrunk to 40 degrees, and since it will be south of the sun observations may be difficult from the northern hemisphere but should still be fairly easy from the southern. Even though the elongation continues to decrease after that, since the sun is moving southward we northern hemisphere observers may be able to keep following it for a while, perhaps even up until the time of perihelion passage when the elongation will be 26 degrees. After that its motion on the sky reverses as it crosses almost directly between the earth and the sun, passing less than two degrees north of the sun on September 26.

By the end of the first week of October Comet Elenin will emerge into the morning sky, traveling rapidly west-northwestward through Leo and passing six degrees north of Regulus on October 11. It makes its closest approach to Earth (0.23 AU) on October 16 and travels rapidly through Cancer and Gemini around this time (passing just one degree north of the bright star Pollux on October 22), then enters Auriga shortly before the end of October and then northern Taurus at the end of the first week of November. The comet is at opposition shortly after the middle of that month, and then passes through the northern regions of the Pleiades star cluster on November 23. At the end of that month it crosses into eastern Aries, where it remains up through the end of January 2012.

Brightness predictions for any potentially bright comet like this one are always problematical. Unfortunately, the news thus far for Comet Elenin is not especially good; it is already running somewhat behind the original expectations, and the distinctly diffuse and uncondensed appearance it is currently exhibiting visually is also not a good sign. Furthermore, calculations now clearly show that Comet Elenin is making its first visit to the inner solar system from the Oort Cloud, and such comets quite often tend to appear relatively bright when far from the sun but under-perform as they approach and pass through perihelion. (The most famous, or infamous, example is Comet Kohoutek 1973f (no. 10), but compared to some Oort Cloud comets even it did not perform all that poorly.)

With all this in mind, a cautiously optimistic scenario would suggest that Comet Elenin might reach 10th magnitude by early August when it becomes a somewhat difficult object from the northern hemisphere, and may brighten further to around 6th magnitude by the time it passes through perihelion. It may still be near this brightness when it reappears in the morning sky in early October, and then might fade slowly by perhaps half a magnitude by the time it is nearest Earth. Fading may be more rapid thereafter, with the comet’s being perhaps 10th or 11th magnitude when near opposition in November, and no brighter than perhaps 13th magnitude by the end of the year. As I mentioned above, there is a potential for a forward scattering enhancement of brightness (perhaps by as much as a couple of magnitudes) in late September when the comet passes almost directly between the Earth and the sun, however this will probably be fairly short-lived and, more importantly, this will occur when the comet is at a very small elongation from the sun. (The LASCO coronagraphs aboard the SOHO spacecraft should nevertheless be able to provide a spectacular view.)

This is only a guide, of course; the comet could easily be one, or two, or more, magnitudes brighter, or fainter, than this. Conceivably, it could fragment as it passes through perihelion and come out distinctly brighter that it was earlier; on the other hand, it could break apart completely and disintegrate as it passes through perihelion. There is precedent for both scenarios, as well as precedent for “normal” behavior. We’ll just have to wait and see what the comet actually does.

Unfortunately, some elements in our society have latched onto the news about Comet Elenin and have been promulgating various apocalyptic scenarios regarding it. (I will not link to any of those, or give them any more publicity than they deserve.) Some of these have gone so far as to question Leonid Elenin’s existence as an actual person. (I can assure “Countdown” participants that he is a real person; while I have not met him, I correspond with him on a fairly regular basis.) Many of these scenarios are almost identical to the nonsense that I remember combatting when Comet Hale-Bopp (no. 199) was around 14 years ago — with some of these being put out by the same people! — and, needless to say, we’re all still here. There is, in fact, nothing all that unusual about Comet Elenin; it does have the potential to become somewhat bright, and it does come somewhat close to Earth (although several comets, including at least three earlier “Countdown” comets, have come closer to Earth during recent years), but there is nothing of any kind to fear. Let’s enjoy whatever show it gives us.

ELENIN Is Just A comet, We Think???

This video was made June 29, 2011 using all of the STEREO AHEAD (A) H1 images from June 5 to June 27, 2011. Motion Tracking was used in Adobe After Effects to stabilize the background star pattern and thereby isolate the Comet’s movement. The apparent motion of the background is caused by the orbit of the STEREO AHEAD (A) satellite. We have included the following JPL orbit simulation for this object and its relationship to the STEREO AHEAD (A) satellite. The red beam represents the approximate field of view of the satellite.

The orbit simulation clearly shows that there are no planets transiting at this time in this field of view. In the following video, approximately one second of playing time represents a 24 hour period of observations.

The object that is moving is clearly following the orbital path of C/2010 X1.

WTF….. Why has NASA not confirmed information and allow pics. Why is this comet the KING Comet of all Comets? This is very interesting point of view, and this guy has some great facts of missing information. What is going on in our world? Why has no one have pictures of proof. We need proof of life, and we are not getting it from anyone.

This is why ELENIN has become a great mystery of the astronomical world.

What are the chances that Comet name Leonid Elenin on a Direct path to Earth, hailing from Constellation Leo that “Could” Impact and become an Extinction Level Event

Also, look at the I.D. Card “Leonid Elenin” produced at 2:16 to 2:19 seconds. That looks so incredibly fake, You could not buy beer with that I.D.

might i add that if you search his name through any search engine he turns out to be the only one of his kind, ”the one and only leonid elenin” but if you search his name in russian you find the name is quite a common name in Russia,…. also when you search the name yelenin you will find quite a few. He discovers a comet which will bring a meteor shower that will be radiant in the constellation Leo, the comet he discovers will be here in november which will bring a spectacular meter shower..

The chances of a mother giving birth to a baby, calling him leonid elenin , and 30 odd years later he discovers a comet arriving in leo in the month of november.

To top it all off his comet has the same flight plan as this so called planet X( also known as the (destroyer, Nemises,).

The comet hale bopp was discovered by Alan Hale and Thomas Bopp. There were tv interviews of the men because of their great discovery, comet elenin is supposed to be as spectacular as hale bopp…problem is that there is nothing on Mr Elenin except a few articles on his discovery in russian english , no tv interview. just his website spaceorbs and his facebook comet elenin page(which he rarely comments on) there are 2 photos of him on the net(except for the new one i found attached),

An interview Mr Elenin was broadcast on Russian television this week. In the Interview Mr Elenin was quoted in saying that somebody is posing as him on Facebook and speaking about the comet. The official comet Elenin group on Facebook is the only place on Facebook where Mr Elenin speaks on his comet. I questioned Mr Elenin on what he said in the interview, he assumed my translation was wrong. He then later changed his story and said that there was already a ”Leonid Elenin” in the group before he got there, and he asked the moderators to remove that profile. When I asked the moderators of the group to confirm his statement they became abusive and deleted me and my posts from the group. I find this very strange that this man’s name means all of this, and the way it was handled in the group was even stranger.

I firmly believe there is a lot more going on with this comet than meets the eye. When I research the names of the other comets discovered, I realise that this name Elenin is the only one that has coincidences like this. I research the family history of the name, its origins and I look for definitions of the name, and this guy has it all as you can see

With the exception of Earth, all of the planets in our solar system have names of Roman mythology. all the points I mention about his name come from greek mythology

Today, June 10, 2011, is six months since the discovery of the first comet in the modern history of Russia. During this time our knowledge about the comet has greatly changed. In the first days after the comet’s discovery, the comet’s orbit did not inspire interest; C/2010 X1 (Elenin) was going to be a faint comet, visible only to telescopes equipped with CCD cameras. But after only the first week of observations, hope was growing that this comet might have a close perihelion, which was later confirmed.

Now we know that the comet will come practically as close as the orbit of Mercury to the Sun and will possibly become visible to the unaided eye. It is unlikely to become a Great Comet, but for me, as its discoverer, it has already become a momentous event. My dreams of many years have been realized.

During the last six months the comet has aroused a lot of interest among the people of the Earth; among the huge number of letters about the end of the world, I also received those about people who became interested in astronomy and observing, who bought telescopes and discovered for themselves the beauty of the night sky. This is possibly the most important effect caused by my comet. Of course the comet poses no threat to the Earth and all the rumors will end when it starts moving away from the Earth and Sun. The same thing happened with the famous comet Hale-Bopp and will be repeated more than once in the future.

I ran the calculations of the orbit for the period from 2011 to 15,000. Of course, in such a long time interval, the accuracy of the calculations will be limited but quite acceptable for a general understanding of the orbital parameters of Comet C/2010 X1. At aphelion the comet will be ~1030 AU from the Sun and will not return toward the Sun until the 8th century of the 14th millennium…

Elenin Enters Mars Orbit at the end of June, 2011, the 27th is the day.

Coast to coast am 06-15-11 -Richard C. Hoagland reacted to a speech on disaster preparedness made by NASA’s director Charles Bolden. His comment about NASA being a Federal agency dealing with humans on off planet might have been a veiled reference to a secret space program, Hoagland suggested. On June 24th 1PM PST, Richard will be a participant in an online video roundtable about the mysterious comet, Elenin.

We open with a discussion of Comet Elenin, and move to the related discussion of recent press releases, articles, and research being disclosed to the public through www.NASA.gov and www.space.com. NASA has recently (April-June 2011) been releasing a series of findings that DRAMATICALLY re-shape the previous paradigms regarding Astrobiology and the ‘requisites for sustainable life,’ the introduction of the idea of ‘Rogue’ Planets – or planets that do not orbit a star but rather travel freely through space (and are MORE numerous than ‘conventional’ planets in solar systems – and that we have great difficulty in “seeing” with current available optical or radio telescope technology,) and even dramtically re-shaping our understanding of our own solar system (the moon isn’t bone-dry – it has LOTS of water! First: our government(s) believe that “First Contact” is going to cause unspeakably catastrophic shockwaves through culture, religion, politics, etc. — and they are probably quite right. The average person has been poorly equipped with the facts to be prepared for such a massive paradigm shift to occur so suddenly (research the Brookings Institute report of 1960)

As a result – they are “staging” the release of the research, observations, and studies that represent the ‘smoking gun’ of ET disclosure.

So much talk about a simple comet and so many doomsayers thinking that this is a brown dwarf, and the many out there thinking there is a planet Nibiru. Leonid Elenin has made this model to just show how a brown dwarf can affect our solar system. I think this is the best amount of information concerning Comet Elenin.

What if we replace comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) by brown dwarf with mass about 0.05 of Solar mass? This video demonstrate time interval from 2000 to 2020 years. As you can see, dramatic changes in the orbit of Saturn would have started 3 years ago. But at this time all planets are on it’s nominal orbits. I think myth about “brown dwarf instead comet Elenin” is debunked. You can see that by yourself.

Numerical integration was carried out by ORSA software using RADAU15-th order integrator.

There is the push for an example of a Brown Dwarf, although Leonid’s example shows the end of the current solar system. In the next video, someone tries to explain why it is a Brown Dwarf. This story will continue until September when the next alignment is.

This comet will continue to make the news daily as speculation from many sources say Elenin is not a comet but is being controlled by what, that is the question?? As Elenin continues to travel towards the sun and then get close to the Earth, it is only speculation, but it is fun listening and reading all the different doomsayers and people who have seen it, the story get more fun and more interesting.

The myth of elenin being under “intelligent control” comes from NASA updated the orbit slightly because of new data. it is impossible to predict a parabolic arch with only two points, the new info allowed NASA to update the orbit. Despite these simple facts, some websites claim that “Yelenin” slam into the Earth, or violate our orbit, or will cause high tides and strong earthquakes, or violate our magnetic field. Such statements are pure fiction.

The evidence of Elenin being something more than a comet and it may very well be a Brown Dwarf; this is prominent in the new calculations and gravitational forces that are affecting our Planet Earth, at the same time reasoning is bringing many people to see that NASA and MSM will not cover this story. All equipment for NEOs has been turned off by NASA and are no longer reporting anything to us. I ran across this while searching for more to the story of Elenin

This video and new links just came out yesterday and I watched the youtube video and was quite intrigued by the evidence that Elenin may be something other than a comet. I am pessimistic and I will continue to search for the answers that are bothering so many people out there like myself.

Brown dwarfs are sub-stellar objects which are too low in mass to sustain hydrogen-1 fusion reactions in their cores, which is characteristic of stars on the main sequence. Some planets are known to orbit brown dwarfs: 2M1207b, MOA-2007-BLG-192Lb, and 2MASS J044144‎b.

The fun never stops when it comes to an Extinct Level Event

It has been reported how Planetary Alignments with Comet Elenin Causing Big Earthquakes. In latest development now we learns 10 page letter is already out on the web since October 2010, which proves that US NASA and the White House know about ELENIN and consider it “a real threat” (On October 11, 2011 Elenin will be only 0.246au away from Earth; that’s a quarter of the distance to the sun.) it`s possible even more dangerous against earth than we understand.

They are calculating and preparing to if possible take action against this Comet. John Holdren, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, or OSTP, outlines plans for “(A) protecting the United States from a near-Earth object that is expected to collide with Earth.

Interestingly, Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) was only “discovered” by civilian Leonid Elenin on December 10, 2010, in the official White House letter below, written back in late October 2010, the White House addressed the possibility of an Comet/Asteroid striking the Earth.

The terminology used in this letter, along with several other facts that have emerged in the time since the letter was written, lead us to believe that our “shadow” government and elements within NASA have long known that anticipated effects of the arrival of Comet Elenin would indeed be much greater than they are telling the public.

In fact, we believe that the White House letter below may be the “smoking gun” to help prove that the government indeed does know that the potential consequences facing planet Earth from this comet will be far more disastrous than what they are “officially” telling the public.

May 7, 2011 – Comet Elenin spawned mass hysteria on the internet – Leonid Elenin

A misreported April Fool’s joke sparked panic on the internet over a comet discovered by a Russian astronomer. Conspiracy theorists believe that the Elenin comet is an alien spaceship and demand that the scientist discloses data hushed up by NASA.

The web uproar focuses on the comet C/2010 X1, which was first discovered on December 10, 2010. Alien enthusiasts believe that it has a cluster of alien-made objects, most likely spacecraft, hiding in its tail. They fear that when the comet gets closer to Earth, the aliens will show themselves, and the first contact is likely to be a disaster. They expect doomsday on September 10.

The panic-sparking claims originate from Argentinean astronomer Sergio Toscano, whose report on the alien theory was cited by a number of Latin American media outlets. The scientist said the data came from the Chinese national space agency.

But the true origin of the story comes from a British newspaper, which published it as an April Fool’s joke. The astronomer may have been misguided by the fact that the Latin American counterpart for April Fool’s Day, Feast of the Holy Innocents, is celebrated on December 28.

Nevertheless, the internet rumor mill was quick to spread the story, which mutated into an alien invasion scare. Some even matched the comet with the infamous Nibiru planet.
“Non-existent” scientist’s misadventure

And the person arguably affected most by the scare is the Russian scientist who discovered the comet in the first place. Leonid Elenin from the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics in Moscow became the first target for the enquiries, demands and threats of all the worried souls.

“It was somewhat funny at first, and I even surfed the internet to see what they say, but now I’m scared to do it. I’m really irritated. I’m really disappointed that this nonsense appeared in the Russian segment of the web,” the astronomer told RIA Novosti news agency.

According to Elenin, conspiracy theorists go as far as claiming that he is a front firm for NASA or other government agencies, who try to put a lid on the information about the alleged upcoming disaster.

“I’ve seen discussions about what Leonid Elenin actually means. ‘Ele’ is ‘extinction level event’ and ‘nin’ is Nibiru in November,” the scientist said.

The astronomer did his best to explain that there is nothing special about the comet he detected, apart from the fact that it was the first comet discovered by a Russian astronomer in two decades.

He believes the hysteria has been fueled by the photo of the comet made by a tracking camera, which resulted in two nearby stars leaving stretched markings.

“There’s the comet flying and there are tracks from the two stars. I read an article claiming those two ‘cylinders’ are the spacecraft,” Elenin explained.

The Elenin comet is to flyby Earth at an estimated distance of 35,000,000 kilometers in mid-October. You would need good binoculars or a telescope to see it harmlessly pass and go away.

Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) is becoming one of the most observed long-period comets. At the moment, the overall number of CCD camera observations is approaching 1300, while the number of CCD observations of comet C/1996 B2 (Hyakutake) never exceeded 1000. Of course, for the most part that reflects the growth and accessibility of modern CCD cameras. I have underscored this fact for the conspiracy theorists who are saying that Comet Elenin is impossible to see in the sky and all its observations are being kept secret. Of course that is not the case, but let’s return to news about the comet.

On the basis of quality estimates of the comet’s brightness, the photometric model of comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) has been revised by Artem Novichonok. According to the new prediction, the comet may reach a brightness of mag. 4 near perihelion, and that is without accounting for the effect of forward scattering, when the comet is directly between the Earth and the Sun. Tiny icy dust particles will scatter light passing through them, and the comet’s brightness, which we can observe on images taken by SOHO’s space coronagraph, will increase. The comet could reach mag. 0 or even brighter! True, such a sharp increase in brightness will be very brief, and when the comet comes out of conjunction with the Sun and we can see it in the morning sky, its brightness will have already returned to mag. 4-4.5. The comet will remain visible to the unaided eye until the beginning of November.

Every now and again I am a little embarrassed to be part of the ufology and ancient astronaut theory crowd. Honestly, there are some real kooks out there that will come up with the wildest stories and lately, one of them, is that Comet Elenin (a.k.a. C2010 X1), a comet set to pass Earth in October, is somehow going to bring about earthquakes, tidal shifts, maybe even the end of the world depending on which wacko you believe.Whenever I read these things, I always wonder for just a moment but then I immediately find myself trying to get to the source of it all. Frankly, in spite of all the conspiracy theories I believe in, I think the scientists involved in the field would have their reasons for not telling us, i.e. they don’t want to cause a panic with something that can be and probably will be diverted, or there really is no cause for alarm which is the case WAY more often than not.

Yes, big things have come barreling through our atmosphere before and you never know when a meteor is going to come falling out of the sky but facts are facts and there are a number of experts trying to put these rumors to bed. For instance, Discovery Science says that trajectory places it at about 21 million miles from Earth (more than 80 times farther away than the moon) at it’s closest pass and considering the minuscule size of the object it will have the equivalent effect on earth as a mosquito would if it hit head on with a ocean cruiser. In case you didn’t catch that, it won’t have ANY effect on Earth. It’s not going to slam into us, it’s not Nibiru, it’s not inhabited, it’s not the fulfillment of a Mayan prophecy, none of that. Even the closest fly-by’s of other comets haven’t created natural disasters historically and this one will be much farther away than many have been.

If you seem to think otherwise, I’d be glad to hear why, but I can’t promise I’ll take you seriously.

I have been receiving many questions about Comet Elenin. Many of them refer to the outrageous lies on some conspiracy theory websites, which are amplified by people who seem to think this comet is highly unusual. C2010 X1 Elenin (to give its full name) is a long-period comet, which takes about 10,000 years to complete one orbit around the Sun. It was discovered with a robotic telescope in New Mexico on 10 December 2010 by Russian amateur astronomer Leonid Elenin. When comets or asteroids are first discovered, their orbits are quite uncertain; usually it takes several months of observations to firmly establish the orbit. Elenin’s perihelion (closest to the Sun) is in early September 2011 at a distance from the Sun of 40-45 million miles. It will be closest to Earth on about 16 October, at a distance of about 21 million miles, which is nearly a hundred times farther than the Moon. The comet never comes close to the Earth, but it is expected to be visible in binoculars during August and October. Part of the Internet chatter concerns its size. Comets are exceedingly small and enveloped in a tenuous cloud of gas and dust, so the only way to be sure of their actual dimensions is to visit with a spacecraft. Half a dozen comets have been the target of spacecraft missions, and all of them (even Comet Halley) are less than 10 km in diameter. There is no reason to think Elenin is any different. It is hard to imagine anyone would take this seriously. Comets don’t have magnetic fields, and magnetic fields can’t change the rotation axis or cause earthquakes no matter how large they are. Adding to the craziness is a claim that this same comet caused the Earth’s axis to shift by 3 degrees in February 2010 and caused the Chile Earthquake. These are simply lies; the comet was far away a year ago, and there was no change whatever in Earth’s rotation axis. The Chile earthquake was a normal slippage in an active fault that has produced many previous earthquakes, including the one witnessed by Charles Darwin in 1835. Please remember that just because someone says he or she is from NASA doesn’t make it true. Many people who post YouTube videos lie about their affiliation. Incidentally, only NASA is allowed to use the NASA logo, the blue circle with the word NASA and a satellite orbiting around it.

A large space rock will pass close to Earth on November 8, 2011 and astronomers are anticipating the chance to see asteroid 2005 YU55 close up. Just like meteorites offer a free “sample return” mission from space, this close flyby is akin to sending a spacecraft to fly by an asteroid – just like how the Rosetta mission recently flew by asteroid Lutetia – but this time, no rocket is required. Astronomers are making sure Spaceship Earth will have all available resources trained on 2005 YU55 as it makes its closest approach, and this might be a chance for you to see the asteroid for yourself, as well.

“While near-Earth objects of this size have flown within a lunar distance in the past, we did not have the foreknowledge and technology to take advantage of the opportunity,” said Barbara Wilson, a scientist at JPL. “When it flies past, it should be a great opportunity for science instruments on the ground to get a good look.”

2005 YU55 is about 400 meters [1,300 feet] wide, and closest approach will be about 325,000 kilometers (201,700 miles) from Earth.

“This is the largest space rock we have identified that will come this close until 2028,” said Don Yeomans, manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program Office at JPL, and Yeomans assured that we are in no danger from this asteroid.

“YU55 poses no threat of an Earth collision over, at the very least, the next 100 years,” he said. “During its closest approach, its gravitational effect on the Earth will be so miniscule as to be immeasurable. It will not affect the tides or anything else.”

Astronomers estimate that asteroids the size of YU55 come this close to Earth about every 25 years. We just haven’t had this much advance warning – a testament to the work that Yeomans and his team does at the NEO Program in detecting asteroids and detecting them early.

So, here’s a chance for a close-up look. The 70-meter (230-foot) newly upgraded Goldstone antenna in California, part of NASA’s Deep Space Network, will be imaging the asteroid with radar.

It is interesting to see everyone writing fake articles from Nasa and Chinese Astronomers about COMET C/2010 X1 (Elenin), as well when they make bold statements like it is a UFO or there is a UFO in its’ tail.

Comet Honda will come closer to us in August than will COMET C/2010 X1 (Elenin) in October. We also have Asteroid called 2005 YU55 to Approach Earth and it will be closer than the moon on November 8, 2011, around the same time we will be seeing Elenin leave and Levy arrive.

There is the known or not known fact or mis-leading statement that Elenin is coming with other bodies. This still remains to be seen by world astronomers while some are stating this is the case. It is quite interesting that Nasa’s website for Elenin is now offline. If you have not seen these yet, they are interesting to view none the less.

This year will be a very interesting year for comets, and near earth objects. Most are waiting in anticipation to what is C/2010 X1 (Elenin), a comet or a brown dwarf, and if it actually carries other objects with it.

Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) is a long-period comet discovered by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin on December 10, 2010 at the International Scientific Optical Network‘s robotic observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico, U.S.A. At the time of discovery Elenin had an apparent magnitude of 19.5,[2] making it about 150,000 times fainter than the naked eye magnitude of 6.5.[5] The discoverer, Leonid Elenin, estimates that the comet nucleus is 3–4 km in diameter.[6] As of April 2011, the comet is around magnitude 15 (roughly the brightness of Pluto), and the coma (expanding tenuous dust atmosphere) of the comet is estimated to be about 80,000 km in diameter.[7]

C/2010 X1 will come to perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) on 10 September 2011 at a distance of 0.4824 AU.[3] On 16 October 2011, the comet will pass within about 0.23 AU (34,000,000 km; 21,000,000 mi) of the Earth[3] at a relative velocity of 86,000 km/hr.[3] The Minor Planet Center ephemeris shows this relatively bright comet will reach about 6th magnitude near mid-October 2011,[8] but until the activity level of the coma is better known it is still uncertain just how bright this comet will become.[9] Elenin will make its closest apparent pass in the night sky to Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdušáková on the morning of October 8, before moving apparently close to and in front of Mars on October 15. The comet came to opposition at 178° from the Sun on March 14 and will come to opposition again on November 22 at 175° from the Sun. The minimum angle between the Sun and comet will occur September 26 (1.9°), and between July 28 and October 10 the comet will be less than 45 degrees from the Sun.

Given the orbital eccentricity of this object, different epochs can generate quite different heliocentric unperturbed two-body best-fit solutions to the aphelion distance (maximum distance) of this object. Near perihelion using an August 2011 epoch, Kazuo Kinoshita shows C/2010 X1 to have a heliocentric orbital period of 600,000 years,[10] but being on a highly eccentric orbit, the comet will be frequently perturbed by the planets as it leaves the inner solar system.[11] For objects at such high eccentricity, the Sun’s barycentric coordinates are more stable than heliocentric coordinates.[12] The orbit of a long-period comet is properly obtained when the osculating orbit is computed at an epoch after leaving the planetary region and is calculated with respect to the center of mass of the solar system. Using JPL Horizons with an observed orbital arc of 118 days, the barycentric orbital elements for epoch 2020-Jan-01 generate a semi-major axis of 519 AU and a period of approximately 11,800 years.[4]

Before entering the planetary region (epoch 1950), Elenin had a calculated barycentric orbital period of ~6.1 million years with an apoapsis (aphelion) distance of about 66,900 AU (1.05 light-years).[4] Elenin was probably in the outer Oort cloud with a loosely bound chaotic orbit that was easily perturbed by passing stars.

COMET HONDA

45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdušáková is a periodic comet discovered by Minoru Honda December 3, 1948.[3] The comet is named after Minoru Honda, Antonín Mrkos and Ľudmila Pajdušáková.

The orbit is elliptical with period of 5.252 years.

The orbital work of Kazuo Kinoshita discovered that it will pass with significantly close proximity of only 0.0601 AU (8,990,000 km; 5,590,000 mi) from the Earth on August 15, 2011,[4][5] and will be studied by the Goldstone Deep Space Network.[6] It will also pass close to Earth on February 11, 2017.[5]

The comet nucleus is estimated to be 1.6 kilometers in diameter.[7]

COMET P/2006 T1 (Levy)

P/2006 T1 (Levy) is a periodic comet with an orbital period of 5.24 years.[1] It last came to perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) on 7 October 2006.[1] During the 2006 passage the comet only achieved an apparent magnitude of ~9.5.[3] It has not been observed since 25 November 2006, and only has on observation arc of 54 days.[1]

The next perihelion passage is calculated to be on 11 January 2012 at a distance of 1.007 AU from the Sun.[2] Since the comet has not been observed in ~5 years, it is calculated to pass the Earth on 2012-Jan-20 at between 0.15 to 0.20 AU (with 0.18 AU being the nominal solution).[4] (A recovery image of the comet will allow a notable reduction in the error bars and the cone of uncertainty.) During the 2012 passage the comet will likely only get to an apparent magnitude of 7.[5]

What about planet X?

People used to think that the orbits of Uranus and Neptune could not be properly fit to the observations (measurements of their positions). Therefore, it was assumed that there was an additional planet out in the farther reaches of the solar system which was perturbing those planets’ motions: i.e., Planet X. It is now known, however, that the orbits of Uranus and Neptune can be adjusted to the accuracy of the data if done properly (as in the reference below). Thus, no need for Planet X.

Over the past decade or so, a number of bodies have been found out past the orbit of Pluto. In fact, one of them is even bigger than Pluto; so, in some sense, it should be considered to be a planet. Is it “The Planet X”? No; neither it nor Pluto is close in enough or massive enough to significantly affect the orbits of Uranus or Neptune.

ELEnin: What are they? And what is the “Jupiter” sized Planet that is following them?

Most of you more than likely heard the show where my husband Bob was invited to call in during the last half hour and spoke about what we knew at that time about what we believed was Elenin, and its possible history.
Events have been moving hard and fast ever since that show, and more and more photos/images of Elenin, and its traveling companions have been hitting the internet.
Leonid Elenin has had his web site www.spaceobs.org swamped with questions ever since!
And I am sorry to say, he is very dismissive of the claims and annualized images showing other objects coming with, or behind “His” comet. And he is starting to complain about people doctoring his images, to show objects that were never there in the first place. And while he did not mention any names … I want to say right here … no trickery or photo-shopping was involved in the enlargement enhancing of either his photos, or anyone else’s photos to obtain what you are about to see.

This last enhancement brought out at least 13 objects that were tightly orbiting the center mass … they are indicated by the dark-blue dots very close in to the central mass.
Comets do not have objects orbiting them!
Then we discovered an article from the online EU web site dated Mar 1st, 2011 www.eutimes.net/2011/03/russian-warning-issued-over-controlled-comet-headed-towards-earth/ titled “Russian Warning Issued over Controlled Comet headed towards Earth” And this quote from the article “Most ominous in Minister Serdyukov’s report is his assertion that Comet Elenin appears to be in “direct contact” with the mysterious Jupiter-sized planet discovered beyond the orbit of Pluto that is, also, headed inbound towards our Sun.”
A Jupiter sized Planet that is in direct contact with Elenin that is also headed in towards our Sun … WOW!
So the search began for more photos. A Brown Dwarf Star about the size of Jupiter, with 6 Planets and many large Moons … that normally sits just outside of our Solar System’s Ort Cloud, but once every 26,000 years or so, enters our Solar System.
And if you look very carefully at the images … you will notice that StarViewerTeam high-lighted the 6th planet, and followed it month by month … they firmly believe it is “Nibiru” … the Planet of the Crossing!
So, the ancient Sumerian’s just might have written the truth … Nibiru did cross over into our Solar System as they told. But, if they were correct about Nibiru, were they also correct about the “Annunaki” who they said lived on Nibiru?
So, from the photos and images presented here, we have three large objects heading towards our Earth, and if JPL/NASA can be believed, they will be coming close to our Earth from September through November of this year. With their closest approach happening in October of this year. Less than 6 months away!
The photos and images also show a very large object following a month or more right behind the first two. From the images, all three objects are moving at about the same speed … that is why there is no blurring of the BDS in the images.
As more and more images are posted, we will be annualizing them, and will be posting the enhancements.

Near Earth objects (NEOs) are comets or asteroids that have been nudged into a possible collision path with the Earth. The international program to discover NEOs; Spaceguard, which includes NASA’s NEO program, has identified around 6,000 NEOs so far, most of which are asteroids.

History of violence

But dark comets with unpredictable orbits may pose a greater threat than asteroids, which are easier to spot, according to astrophysicists Bill Napier, from the Cardiff Centre for Astrobiology in Wales, and David Asher, from Armagh Observatory in Northern Ireland.

“We may be dealing with a population of dark objects, carrying a lot of kinetic energy, which are not being properly picked up in the Spaceguard surveys,” the researchers write in the February issue of the journal Astronomy Geophysics.

Some comets scoot into the range of Earth from near Jupiter or further out, but appear regularly, like Halley’s Comet. Others originate in the distant Oort cloud, a spherical comet nursery predicted to exist around one light-year from the Sun. These have orbits in the range of a million years, and are harder to predict or to spot, especially if they are too far away from the Sun to develop a characteristic comet tail as their icy surface melts.

When the Solar System passes through the galactic plane – the flattened disc of the Milky Way galaxy – molecular clouds may send Oort cloud objects hurtling into the inner Solar System, said the researchers.

Galactic mix-up

They say the timing of the Solar System’s passage through the galactic plane – around 20 to 30 million years – closely matches spikes in the distribution of large impact craters on Earth for the past 250 million years. They conclude that comets have been responsible for most of Earth’s impact craters and may pose an unrecognised risk to our civilisation.

Current NEO programs might be “monitoring a swarm of bees while standing on a railway line with an express train due,” says the study.

Guest host Rob Simone (email) was joined by former CNN science features news producer, Marshall Masters, who discussed the connection between Planet X and 2012 as well as how they relate to Edgar Cayce’s predictions and the Kolbrin Bible. He detailed how his research began with attempting to determine the cause of global warming, which led to the conclusion that the changing weather patterns are primarily driven by the sun. In trying to find the source of the sun’s erratic behavior, Masters and his research colleagues ultimately concluded, after ruling out all over factors, that there must be “an interloper” in the solar system, i.e. Planet X, that is affecting the sun. According to him, they based this determination on measured perturbations in the orbits and atmospheric upheavals of the other planets in the solar system.

On the nature of Planet X, Masters surmised that it is likely a brown dwarf in a “long period elliptical orbit” where it “zooms in and zooms out” of the solar system. He speculated that the object has a 3,600 year orbit and that it’s last appearance was what caused the infamous “ten plagues of Exodus.” In light of that, Masters contended that we are currently “at the cusp of one of these catastrophic, punctuated events in our planet’s timeline.” Connecting the object with the Mayan Calendar, Masters said that the sun’s activity is expected to be extremely high in December of 2012, which is when he expects people to first be able to see Planet X with the naked eye. This arrival of object near Earth, he said, would initially result in meteorite showers, followed by a polar shift, where “our references as to what time and gravity are, those are going to be in a state of flux.” Masters described the true disastrous effects of the polar shift to be less the result of the event itself and more due to Earth re-settling after it has happened.

He pointed to the Avebury Crop Formation from July of 2008 as a mysterious warning sign of events which will unfold in the future. Masters explained that the formation, which appears to include the planets in our solar system, is a “time stamp reference” to December 21, 2012. Additionally, he observed that the message seems to suggest that Pluto will be greatly affected by Planet X, where it will either “spin out into space or spiral into the sun.” As to the origins of the Avebury Crop Formation, Masters ascribed the source to a “benign species that are trying to communicate with us and to convey timely information to warn us to be prepared and to deal with it as a serious threat.” With that said, he stressed the need to avoid being afraid of what might unfold and, instead, accept that it is “just a physical process that’s going on and we’ll get through it.”

Comet C/2010 X1 ( Elenin) may be studied with the help of one of the biggest radio telescopes in the world – Arecibo. This only very recently became known. Lance Benner answered my letter having to do with the detection of NEOs with the help of the 70 meter Goldstone radio telescope. From his words we learn that finding a comet at a distance of 0.23 a.u. is a complex task for their radio telescope. For that purpose the gigantic 300 meter Arecibo radio telescope is better suited.

According to Ellen Howell, such work has been done at Arecibo and in 30-50% of the cases it has been successful. An application for four nights of observing time in the period from September 27 to November 10, 2011 has already been sent to the committee that apportions observing time. I hope these observations will all take place and that they will be successful! The comet Elenin is causing a huge stir on the internet from people who are back yard Astronomers and they are confusing the issue saying that this is a brown dwarf and it has planets circling it. I am sure it would be quite easy to find them on youtube with a simple search of elenin. There are people out there that say ELEnin stands for Extinction Level Event.

When this was first discovered in December last year(2010) it was calculated that it would pass 8.8 Au (8.8 times the distance of the Sun form us) away. Now today the orbital calculation is down to 0.24 Au with a minimum as low as 0.15. This is being re-calculated all the time and could get even closer but it depends what it encounters in the Oort belt.

The Moon is 0.00256 Au form us to give you a comparison.

You should be aware the this comet could bring debris with it and we will pass through the debris trail – if it exists – around the 6th November 2011. Could this new long period comet (?) be the origin of the stories of Nibiru?

It is definitely something to be watching out for and I shall try and keep this thread updated with information as the closest approach draws nearer.

One of the members of our research team is an astronomer at a large observatory. We’ve been having a number of exchanges about the theories of James McCanney. Okay, now you know a bit about the possibilities of comets as parts of the Electric Solar System. McCanney cites all the strange weather on earth, strange behavior of the sun, that arrived in tandem with Comet Hale-Bopp. So now along comes Comet Elenin. Let’s start with the likely trajectory. On the image, which came from my astronomer friend, it looks like this:

The little black curved line represents Mercury.

Hopefully, it should be visible somewhere around mid-August. Its closest approach to the Sun is scheduled in the first half of September. Where it will go exactly – we do not know. Since its orbit is close to the ecliptic plane, it should be visible low in the sky. Orbital parameters are yet uncertain. So far it looks harmless

Comet Elenin Update!

I’ve received updates on Comet Elenin from the astronomical insider who shall, as I said, remain anonymous for the moment.

The first item of note is that, with the update on the orbit of Elenin, which was made on 09 Jan 11, that is 9-1-11 (interesting, no?), it is scheduled to reach perihelion on the 9th of September, that is: 9-9-11. Another interesting numerical combo.

Sorry guys, but it seems that all your ideas of a brown dwarf may be in vain. Hysteria that had been grown about earthquakes and high gravity wells are all from naught.

On May 20th (Friday), C/2010 X1 (Elenin) passed within 0.002 AUs of an asteroid in the asteroid belt known as 1999 RQ176 (asteroid number 74732). The name designates when it was found and in what order. This asteroid is several magnitudes dimmer than Elenin itself. In order to determine if it was still where it should be after the encounter, I purchased telescope time from a civilian telescope in the Canary Islands.

As expected, it’s faint as hell, and this was with a telescope as large as GLP’s new main scope (different optical design though). First, here’s the image of 1999 RQ176. Elenin’s clearly visible on the right end of the image as well.

The purple sheen is just due to white balance issues. Asteroid 1999 RQ176 is just barely visible. This is actually a stack of 4 exposures from the telescope, the first exposure ending at 22:34:31 GMT May 21st.

Elenin’s position was predicted to be 10h 27m 32.27s, +08d 09′ 03.5″. According to astrometry, it was detected at 10h 27m 32s, +08d 09′ 04″, well within the 2.15 arcsecond per pixel resolution of the image.

Asteroid 1999 RQ176 was predicted to be at 10h 28m 35.60s, +08d 05′ 23.1″. According to the same astrometry, it was actually detected at 10h 28m 36s, +08d 05′ 23″, again right on the money and within the resolution of the image.

Elenin failed to detectably perturb this little asteroid at all despite encountering it at a very close distance of 0.002 AUs and even pelting it with its tail as it passed between the asteroid and sun during that close approach. Here’s a simulation showing the encounter:

I hope this sets some of your minds at ease. I’m well aware that some, perhaps many here, will choose to believe Elenin is an imminent threat to earth no matter what, but if you’re willing to look you’ll see it’s really just a harmless minor comet.

PANIC ON THE INTERNE since it was discovered by Leonid Elenin. I expect the internet to soon be ringing with rumors and news bytes about this comet. For now, there isn’t much to say so I’m sharing what I’ve received in private from an astronomer at a big observatory that shall remain anonymous for the moment. He says:

1. It is too early to accurately predict the future path – it’s orbital parameters haven’t been revised.
2. Among the observable hyperbolic and parabolic comets (those that come from the Oort cloud) this one has the smallest perihelion distance and the smallest inclination to the ecliptic plane.
3. Comet Elenin’s orbit may be unstable as it may encounter some dark bodies, for example, in the asteroid belt or even some Taurid objects. What would happen in those cases is a matter of luck.
4. This comet may carry a significant amount of material with it and if it follows the currently projected orbit, the Earth may very well pass through this material.
5. If Elenin is anything like what Victor Clube or James McCanney describes, we might be in for some surprises – good or bad, who knows?

With the May holidays, bloggers, social networks and the inhabitants of the forums discussing one stunning news: We are about to meet with the brothers on reason! - I get many questions about the comet Elenina. This comet is plain, and it poses no threat to Earth. It is extremely small and wrapped in a rarefied cloud of gas and dust. Its weight is less than one billionth the mass of Earth. Needless to say, we do not even feel a tiny gravitational attraction of the "Elenina. Despite these simple facts, some websites claim that "Yelenin" slam into the Earth, or violate our orbit, or will cause high tides and strong earthquakes, or violate our magnetic field. Such statements are pure fiction.

The evidence of Elenin being something more than a comet and it may very well be a Brown Dwarf; this is prominent in the new calculations and gravitational forces that are affecting our Planet Earth, at the same time reasoning is bringing many people to see that NASA and MSM will not cover this story. All equipment for NEOs has been turned off by NASA and are no longer reporting anything to us. I ran across this while searching for more to the story of Elenin

This video and new links just came out yesterday and I watched the youtube video and was quite intrigued by the evidence that Elenin may be something other than a comet. I am pessimistic and I will continue to search for the answers that are bothering so many people out there like myself.

This is Terral03's introductory ELEnin Comet/Dwarf Star Warning video with links to resources so others can run their own ELE investigations.

The data says we are looking at an inbound dwarf star that has been causing earthquakes on our planet since 1965 and causing magnetic pole migration since about 2004. The evidence indicates that Earth will experience a pole shift event around 9/26 to 9/27, when the Sun, Earth and this ELE object are on the ecliptic/celestial planes that intersect at the autumn equinox. COMET C/2010 X1 (Elenin)

Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) is a long-period comet discovered by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin on December 10, 2010 at the International Scientific Optical Network's robotic observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico, U.S.A. At the time of discovery Elenin had an apparent magnitude of 19.5,^[2] making it about 150,000 times fainter than the naked eye magnitude of 6.5.^[5] The discoverer, Leonid Elenin, estimates that the comet nucleus is 3–4 km in diameter.^[6] As of April 2011, the comet is around magnitude 15 (roughly the brightness of Pluto), and the coma (expanding tenuous dust atmosphere) of the comet is estimated to be about 80,000 km in diameter.^[7]

C/2010 X1 will come to perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) on 10 September 2011 at a distance of 0.4824 AU.^[3] On 16 October 2011, the comet will pass within about 0.23 AU (34,000,000 km; 21,000,000 mi) of the Earth^[3] at a relative velocity of 86,000 km/hr.^[3] The Minor Planet Center ephemeris shows this relatively bright comet will reach about 6th magnitude near mid-October 2011,^[8] but until the activity level of the coma is better known it is still uncertain just how bright this comet will become.^[9] Elenin will make its closest apparent pass in the night sky to Comet Honda-Mrkos-Pajdušáková" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdu%C5"C i.e. they don’t want to cause a panic with something that can be and probably will be diverted, or there really is no cause for alarm which is the case WAY more often than not.

Yes, big things have come barreling through our atmosphere before and you never know when a meteor is going to come falling out of the sky but facts are facts and there are a number of experts trying to put these rumors to bed. For instance, Discovery Science says that trajectory places it at about 21 million miles from Earth (more than 80 times farther away than the moon) at it’s closest pass and considering the minuscule size of the object it will have the equivalent effect on earth as a mosquito would if it hit head on with a ocean cruiser. In case you didn’t catch that, it won’t have ANY effect on Earth. It’s not going to slam into us, it’s not Nibiru, it’s not inhabited, it’s not the fulfillment of a Mayan prophecy, none of that. Even the closest fly-by’s of other comets haven’t created natural disasters historically and this one will be much farther away than many have been.

If you seem to think otherwise, I’d be glad to hear why, but I can’t promise I’ll take you seriously.

   So what the deal with comet elenin, there does not seem to be too much credible information. Everyone seems to be freaking out about it, but no one even knows how big it is. Does this comet pose a threat and what is its size and nature? AND I have read about comet Elenin and how some nasa people want to keep it a secret. what are the chances of it coming to earth and what threat does it bring with it, and has this comet got anything to do with 2012 hoax? AND Elinin is only .117 au from earth on mar 11,2011. From march 8 to mar 15, 2011, what are the chances that Elinin either impacts us, or gets close enough to cause a major catastrophy.    I have been receiving many questions about Comet Elenin. Many of them refer to the outrageous lies on some conspiracy theory websites, which are amplified by people who seem to think this comet is highly unusual. It is not unusual, and it is not a threat to Earth. See the Wikipedia article on this comet [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C/2010_X1] for more information. C2010 X1 Elenin (to give its full name) is a long-period comet, which takes about 10,000 years to complete one orbit around the Sun. It was discovered with a robotic telescope in New Mexico on 10 December 2010 by Russian amateur astronomer Leonid Elenin. When comets or asteroids are first discovered, their orbits are quite uncertain; usually it takes several months of observations to firmly establish the orbit. Elenin's perihelion (closest to the Sun) is in early September 2011 at a distance from the Sun of 40-45 million miles. It will be closest to Earth on about 16 October, at a distance of about 21 million miles, which is nearly a hundred times farther than the Moon. The comet never comes close to the Earth, but it is expected to be visible in binoculars during August and October. Part of the Internet chatter concerns its size. Comets are exceedingly small and enveloped in a tenuous cloud of gas and dust, so the only way to be sure of their actual dimensions is to visit with a spacecraft. Half a dozen comets have been the target of spacecraft missions, and all of them (even Comet Halley) are less than 10 km in diameter. There is no reason to think Elenin is any different. This means its mass is less than one billionth the mass of the Earth. Needless to say, we will not be aware of the tiny gravitational pull from Elenin. In spite of these simple facts, some websites (such as godlikeproductions) are making wild claims that Elenin will hit the Earth, or disturb our orbit, or cause tides, or interact with our magnetic field. Such claims are pure fiction. One of the worst examples is a video that someone posted on the NASAbuzzroom website that claims that the magnetic field of the comet will cause a large shift in the rotation axis of the Earth and produce mega-earthquakes on March 15, 2011. It is hard to imagine anyone would take this seriously. Comets don't have magnetic fields, and magnetic fields can't change the rotation axis or cause earthquakes no matter how large they are. Adding to the craziness is a claim that this same comet caused the Earth's axis to shift by 3 degrees in February 2010 and caused the Chile Earthquake. These are simply lies; the comet was far away a year ago, and there was no change whatever in Earth's rotation axis. The Chile earthquake was a normal slippage in an active fault that has produced many previous earthquakes, including the one witnessed by Charles Darwin in 1835. Please remember that just because someone says he or she is from NASA doesn't make it true. Many people who post YouTube videos lie about their affiliation. Incidentally, only NASA is allowed to use the NASA logo, the blue circle with the word NASA and a satellite orbiting around it.

“While near-Earth objects of this size have flown within a lunar distance in the past, we did not have the foreknowledge and technology to take advantage of the opportunity,” said Barbara Wilson, a scientist at JPL. “When it flies past, it should be a great opportunity for science instruments on the ground to get a good look.”

2005 YU55 is about 400 meters [1,300 feet] wide, and closest approach will be about 325,000 kilometers (201,700 miles) from Earth.

“This is the largest space rock we have identified that will come this close until 2028,” said Don Yeomans, manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program Office at JPL, and Yeomans assured that we are in no danger from this asteroid.

It is interesting to see everyone writing fake articles from Nasa and Chinese Astronomers about COMET C/2010 X1 (Elenin), as well when they make bold statements like it is a UFO or there is a UFO in its' tail.

Comet Honda will come closer to us in August than will COMET C/2010 X1 (Elenin) in October. We also have Asteroid called 2005 YU55 to Approach Earth and it will be closer than the moon on November 8, 2011, around the same time we will be seeing Elenin leave and Levy arrive.

There is the known or not known fact or mis-leading statement that Elenin is coming with other bodies. This still remains to be seen by world astronomers while some are stating this is the case. It is quite interesting that Nasa's website for Elenin is now offline. If you have not seen these yet, they are interesting to view none the less.

This year will be a very interesting year for comets, and near earth objects. Most are waiting in anticipation to what is C/2010 X1 (Elenin), a comet or a brown dwarf, and if it actually carries other objects with it.
